Immigrant Supportive Services
We are committed to serving vulnerable and underserved migrant communities, ensuring that families—particularly those with young children—have access to basic needs, resources, and culturally sensitive care. Guided by a trauma-informed framework, our services strive to uphold dignity, advance self-sufficiency, and cultivate safe, inclusive environments for asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants experiencing hardship.
Children's Task Force
This program offers emergency supportive assistance to families affected by ICE raids, including provisions such as food aid, baby supplies, temporary hotel accommodations, fuel assistance, mobile phones, emergency rental subsidies, public transportation passes, and legal consultations. CCDSD holds monthly CTF convenings with essential community partners that also offer services to children. Our goal is to avoid duplication of services, to fill the gaps in services that are needed, and to ensure a warm handoff between providers.
Know Your Rights & Family Preparedness Workshops
Delivered both virtually and in-person in collaboration with the San Diego Police Department, our Know Your Rights workshops include a Q&A session led by our Managing Attorney, Michele Vakili. Our Family Preparedness workshops are accessible in English, Spanish, Creole, and Dari, and includes a notarized Power of Attorney at no cost for the families.
FAITH Project
CCDSD is assisting vulnerable migrants through the partnership with the Diocese’s Faithful Accompaniment In Trust and Hope (FAITH) initiative, which facilitates accompaniment at court hearings. A full-time CCDSD team member, serving as Assistant Ministry Lead, ensures that volunteers receive proper training, are fully prepared to attend designated court sessions, and coordinate the FAITH volunteers at the Federal court as they accompany families and individuals attending their court hearings.
