Core Services Advisor
Position Description:
Position Summary:
Rachel’s Women’s Center’s Core Services Advisors staff a busy 7 day/week drop in center, overseeing all aspects of a social model program for homeless and very low-income women.
Essential Functions
Management Of Center
Prepares and opens facility; assists in oversight of environment.
Remains aware of participants’ presence and behavior as well as the climate within the facility.
Ensures the physical environment is clean, organized, safe, well maintained through frequent checks and overseeing consistent cleaning systems.
Knows and executes emergency protocols and responds appropriately.
Utilizes conflict resolution and de-escalation skills to maintain a safe, welcoming environment
Supportive Services
Greets, signs in, and intakes new participants; orients participants to programs/services in Center.
Provides role model for participants by exhibiting appropriate social behavior; provides social
interactions with participantsCoaches participants in Center upkeep; works cooperatively with staff team to maintain facility
Provides conflict resolution/crisis intervention to participants.
Provides resources & referral information to participants.
Distributes clothing, serves meals, and supervises showers, as needed.
Communicates participant issues/concerns with supervisor/co-workers
Agency Engagement/ Procedures
Adheres to Mission, Principles and Policies of Agency and Rachel’s Women’s Center.
Completes and submits all required and assigned paperwork in a timely and accurate manner
Supports participants’ efforts to obtain self-reliance and supports trauma informed service delivery
model
Qualifications, Education, Experience and Skills Required:
Required: Associate’s degree (A.A.) Minimum 3 years’ experience with homelessness or serving people living with mentally illness and/or addictions. Experience in women’s issues and services.
Preferred: BA/BS Degree or equivalent life/work experience. Minimum 2 years’ experience with homelessness or serving people living with mentally illness and/or addictions. Experience in women’s issues and services.
Strong communication and decision making skills
Good computer skills and ability to become proficient with database software.
Ability to read an interpret documents such as policies, safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of women.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to multi-task and remain patient with participants and co-workers.
Ability to work effectively with others and independently.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers, and to multiply and divide.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to frequently stand; walk; and use hands to finer, handle, or feel.
Occasionally may be required to sit; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.
Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
Specific vision abilities include close vision.
Time Commitment: Full time, 40 hours per week. 6:30 AM – 3 PM Thursday – Monday
Salary: $15.00 / hour
