Rapid Rehousing Housing Specialist / Case Manager
This position provides direct services for individuals throughout Imperial Valley, ensuring they are rapidly placed into housing by providing financial assistance and case management. The Rapid Rehousing Specialist/ Case Manager also works to recruit and retain landlords.

Provide housing navigation services and resources to clients who are ready for, and in need of, permanent housing.
Assist clients with searching for appropriate housing that is considered habitable based by Housing and Urban Development standards.
Accompany clients to meetings with landlord. These meetings include negotiating and signing the lease and explaining and/or clarifying the lease agreement.
Educate clients of their rights and responsibilities.
Assist clients with maintaining their housing, including teaching clients best tenant practices.
Follow-up with clients on a monthly basis.
Work with clients to maintain and increase their financial stability.
Maintain confidential case files, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
Update all client information, as required, in the RTFH in the Coordinated Entry System.
Work cooperatively with the Rapid Rehousing team.
Recruit and build relationships with landlords to obtain housing for clients; ensure landlord retention.
Provide mediation and advocacy on the client’s behalf to maintain a working relationship with landlords and clients.
Build and maintain community relationships to ensure effective coordination of services.
Participate in weekly case conferencing with outside agencies.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree in social service-related field and/ or a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in social services.
Knowledge or understanding of tenant’s rights and responsibilities.
Excellent communication skills, particularly in listening, mediation, and writing skills.
Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to meet a demanding workload.
Must be detail oriented to complete requirements of files and contract compliance.
Knowledge of/ familiarity with or the ability to quickly learn the resources and providers (governmental, civic, social, educational, economic, faith-based, etc.) that are available within the community/ county to help clients find, apply for and maintain affordable housing.
Must have strong computer skills.
Must be able to drive to locations to meet/transport clients as needed for housing purposes.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid California Drivers License
Current automobile insurance
Employment Status: Non- Exempt
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday thru Friday or as needed to meet the needs of project and clients. Some non-traditional hours (early morning, evening, weekends) & duties may be assigned.
Salary: $20.00 per hour
